Welcome to the James Madison Park District! We were formerly part of the Old Market Place Neighborhood Association. We are now a new district which goes from Butler Street on the West to Blair St on the East to East Washington on the South and Lake Mendota on the North. We are pleased to be a part of Capitol Neighborhoods, Inc (CNI).
Our district is named after James Madison Park because it is a place where members of the community can gather for fun, sun, and relaxation. Those who gather at the park are a diverse group of people from all walks of life and in this way the park is representative of our district.
The park is not the only attraction our neighborhood has to offer, of course. We have many businesses as well, from a health club to convenience stores and more.
We encourage everyone in the district to be a part of CNI. It is a great way to find out what's going on in the neighborhood and what to do if there is a problem. If there are concerns about safety, traffic issues, the sidewalks being covered in snow, community members will know who to contact to help get these issues resolved. Plus, it's a great way to get to know people.
We take care of the garden at the park above the stairs between the two towers, so if anyone has a yen for gardening please get in touch with Ilse Hecht (283-6000.)
